By the time we got to the Grand Canyon, we tackled a bunch of huge hikes around the US: Eagle Peak and the Yosemite Valley Floor in Yosemite National Park, the Highline Trail and Dawson-Pitamakan Loop in Glacier National Park, and the Lake Solitude Loop in Grand Teton National Park to name a few. We hadn't done any big hikes since we were in New Hampshire on the Presidential range in White Mountain National Forest, so I wasn't sure how well my legs would handle the massive Bright Angel Trail in Grand Canyon National Park, but I was excited to find out. BRIGHT ANGEL TRAIL 20.56 Miles 5,841 elevation gain 10:22 hours on trail NOTE: The signs at the beginning of this trail recommend against doing this hike in one day, and we would agree. We had been conditioning all year at various altitudes, our starting temperature was in the high 20's, low 30's, and thanks to the time of year we were hiking, we were in the shade of the canyon for most of the hike down and back up. If any of those factors were not the case, we would have split this up as recommended.
