He claimed the game came very naturally to him and that coaches told him early on that he could be next player to make it out of Queens. He also talked about one of his coaches working as a referee for tournaments sponsored by major drug dealers in the area. After making a call that someone disagreed with, his coach was fatally punched in the temple. Alston also described how he maintained his dream of playing basketball at the next level and didn't get sidetracked by getting involved in the streets.
