As you'll see in today's video on the tennis forehand backswing illusion there is actually no backswing, just a short lift. The reason why it's important to have a correct mental image of the stroke is because if you don't picture the stroke correctly in your mind you'll also execute it incorrectly. Tennis strokes in general give an illusion that a lot of movements we do is done through the arm movement but as you'll see that's not the case.
