CES 2024: Glide Self-Guided Mobility Aid

Allison Sheridan interviews Amos Miller, Cofounder and CEO of Glidance, about their self-guided mobility aid designed for people with sight loss. Glide addresses the needs of people who cannot see and want to move about. It provides them a third alternative to using a cane or guide dog. Glide is composed of a single-handed handle on the top of a post that connects to a small base unit on the ground. The base unit has two side-by-side wheels that can brake and turn left and right. You use Glide by gently pushing the handle forward at your own pace. With automatic control of the wheels, Glide provides real-time physical cues through the handle on when to slow down, stop, or turn to avoid objects in your path. In addition, you can set a destination using a mobile app and Glide will guide you to your set destination. Throughout your walk, Glide keeps you on a safe path while providing information about your surroundings, ensuring you stay aware and informed. Learning to use Glide is very quick and intuitive.
