FLASH FLOOD at Carlsbad Caverns National Park Saturday 8/20/2022

Narrowly escaped death capturing this footage. This flash flood came out of nowhere and almost took me head on. People were still trapped up top, many hours later, and the river that came from this was still flowing hard at 9pm. The flood waters crossed the road multiple times on the way down. They're going to have to get heavy machinery to clear the road before anyone can come back down tonight..or maybe tomorrow depending on how bad it is. Roads may have been washed away... I was the last one out of the park, that wasn't still trapped up top, and so I could go at my own speed and capture this for all to see. A close call many times.... but I'm safe. It chased me 6 miles down, on the only road in and out. At the bottom, I watched it come through Whites City.
