A common trend in television is channel drift and decay, in which a channel strays away from it's original genre and concept in order to pander to a more broad demographic, boost low ratings, or because of executive meddling and mismanagement. It became prevalent in the 2000's and 2010's and still goes on to this day due to VOD, streaming services, and the internet becoming more accessible and we now live in the age of cord cutting! In the 2020's, there's been even more experimentation. For better or for worse, such as channel's returning to their roots or spamming the same three goddamn shows all day long. So in this video, I provide five examples plus three bonus ones of channels going downhill! Spoiler alert, nearly all of them gravitate toward reality shows.
