I decided to try to restore a very old and super rusty car sprae wheel by giving it a chrome mirror new look. At first, I tried to remove the rust mechanically, but I realized that it would not be possible to do without sandblasting. The sandblasted rim has been painted with 99% zinc cover to protect the rim from corrosion. I covered some of the gouges and pits with putty, followed by a sanding process and a coat of black paint. I mixed chemicals to prepare chromium solutions according to special formulas. This was followed by Hydrochroming, a continuous process where a chemical reaction coated the rim with a film of chrome.
