Americans don't drive Kei cars but Americans should drive Kei cars. Japan introduced Kei cars back in the 1940s to help rebuild the economy, and because Japan is densely populated Kei cars are still hugely popular. So why don't Americans drive Kei cars? Because car companies such as General Motors lobbied to make America built for SUVs and pickup trucks, not small, efficient Kei cars. Unfortunately, alongside the rise in SUVs and Pickup trucks American cities are going bankrupt and it's because car centric infrastructure is not financially sustainable.
