I explored the catahoula formation, which runs all the way from south texas to east texas, it has some really interesting geology. Including petrified wood that formed in a very rich silica environment creating interesting peices. As well as uranium that is found in ash deposites and has been mined in south texas, hopefully I can explore that at some point too. in this video I found some petrified wood which had been agatized/opalized, it is a really interesting geologic process where silica injects itself and forms minerals in the wood grains preserving the peice.
