2,500 Years Old Buddhist Caves | Shah Allah Ditta Caves,Islamabad

Senior certified cell phone journalist and Regional Director for Middle East at TBC-In TV, UK Khurram Ally takes you on a tour of ancient archaeological heritage site which was once called Gharial. But since Mughal period around 15th century this place is known as Shsh Allah Ditta Caves due to the presence of a shrine of a Saint in close proximity. There are ancient caves about 2,500 years old. Some of the caves are natural but others were made or carved by Buddhist monks who used to meditate here. There are also a large number of 700 years old Banyan trees. Buddhist monks used to meditate and worship in these caves. After the Buddhists, Hindu priests or Saadhus made these caves their place of worship for a long period of time. Finally Afghan King Sher Shah Suri arrived here & built a Mosque, a well for extracting Water & a resting place for visitors. Since Buddhist monks used to meditate in these caves there were several images & carvings of mediating Buddha on the walls & roofs of the caves. But time & weather proved too cruel for these historic images. The lineage of these caves go back to the ancient Taxila, Gandhare civilizations. Locals including the caretaker of these caves Mr. Ayub Abbasi informed me that these caves become seriously haunted after Sunset. A large number of tourists from South east Asia & India visit these caves. #pakistan ancient #mughal #shahallahditta #buddha #buddhist #monk #hindu #saadhu #banyan_tree #worship #meditate #shershahsuri #afghan #mosque #taxila #ghandhara #haunted #travel #adventure #pakmedia #pakistaneconomy #khurramally #hills #mountains #socialmedia #breakingnews
