1963 Mallock Mk3 Historic F3 SOLD by Adam Sykes & Co.

1963 Mallock Mk 3 Historic F3 Mallock designed and manufactured a wide range of highly successful sports racing cars from the early 1960’s particularly for the Clubmans formula. Alongside this they also produced a small number of open-wheeled cars for Formula 3, Formula Junior and Formula Ford. This extremely rare front-engined F3 is one of very few Mk 3s produced by the factory. Originally raced in 1964 by George Lewis of Westover Shoes, it was known as the Westover U2 and uniquely ran a BMC engine. Lewis raced the car to third place at Aintree in October 1964, but its subsequent early history is unknown at this stage. Triumph engineer Peter Hood subsequently discovered the Mallock in 1975 in a Coventry scrapyard and spent four years restoring it. Briefly passing through the hands of Ray Davies and Colin Cooper the car then spent the next 28 years in Germany, where it raced for a period as a Formula Junior. Repatriated to the UK by preparation specialist Stuart Roach in 2008 the car was verified as a Mk 3 by the factory and given a Mallock Specification Sheet and Allocation Number. Stuart fully restored the car to its original BMC engine specification. HTP papers were issued in 2012 then replaced in 2013 to reflect a colour change and conversion to a Ford engine, as more commonly run in period. The car is now fitted with a desirable Sam Wilson engine and has proven to be competitive with other early F3s in the hands of Nigel Winchester and more recently raced in FJ by Hans Ciers. £29,950
