Skyrail Rainforest/Kuranda Scenic Railway day trip travel guide, Cairns, Australia

Skyrail is a 7.5 km long cableway from the Cairns suburb of Springfield to the small town of Kuranda. There are two stopping points where you are encouraged to alight from the capsules and explore the World Heritage Listed rain forest at ground level. There are two levels of Skyrail travel: standard and Diamond View. The later lets you travel in glass-floor gondolas and you join a priority line at all terminals and stations. It is a great experience which ever level you select. Kuranda is a village in the rainforest with several interesting attractions. Three of these are situated in the famous tourist market where there are stalls and restaurants to keep every visitor satisfied. This is where you find the Birdworld Kuranda, Koala Gardens and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary. Skyrail operates from 8.45am each day. The Kuranda Scenic Railway departs from Freshwater train station at 8.55am and 9.55am.
