Staffing levels of the Wausau Fire Department have been a growing concern for many years. We are excited that the Wausau Common Council is examining our recommendations and the Human Resources Committee just recommended hiring an additional 12 Firefighter/Paramedics over the next 2 to 3 years. The topic will head next to the Finance Committee before final approval of the plan by the Common Council. Here is a video that we presented to the Public Health & Safety Committee that highlights our struggles with staffing. In the video, we break down the actions of our firefighters at a fire that occurred on the 400 block of 11th Ave North in November.
