Braunton and Tangmere join the Carlisle Train Variety Bonus Jacobite stock move At Carlisle Tangmere at beautiful Armathwaite Braunton thrashing along the Cumbrian Coast at Wigton 08 June 24 A pleasure to see two steam hauled charters at Carlisle especially as both were Bullied Light Pacifics! Tangmere in original condition and the rebuilt Braunton, probably one of the finest types of steam loco from the British Railways era. Both arrived from the West Coast Main line, Braunton with the Lakelander from Leeds for Saphos Trains while Tangmere brought Northern Belle's Settle & Carlisle Steam Special from Coventry. Tangmere would head south over the Settle & Carlisle Line while Braunton was allowed to traverse the Cumbrian Coast line, otherwise closed to trains for engineering works between Whitehaven and Millom! I drove out to Armathwaite for Tangmere heading south, then across to Wigton for Braunton. In the evening a couple of engineer's trains headed south to Lancaster for Sunday work whilst West Coast moved some Jacobite stock from Fort William to Carnforth. #carlisle #Braunton #tangmere #steamtrain #wcml #S&C #cumbria The times shown on clips are for guidance only and shouldn't be taken as definitive.
