According to prevailing practices of MSW collection one can adopt either hauled or stationer container system. Container collection system in which the containers used for the storage of wastes remain at the point of waste generation, except when moved for collection is defined as stationary container system. Labour requirements for mechanically loaded stationary container systems are essentially the same as for hauled container system. The system may employ vehicle with internal compaction mechanism or un-compacted (open top/side loaded.). The No. of containers used at the secondary storage of wastes are emptied at their location till capacity of vehicle is exhausted; then the vehicle is hauled to the “Destination” which could be processing, transfer or disposal site, emptied and returned to either their original location or some other location This video is an educational resource and is focused on major features of SCS, definitions of basic terms associated with SCS, & analyzing the system for the determination of vehicle requirement.
