This webinar identifies fraud risks in the sector, explains how fraud can impact organisations and discusses measures that can be taken to manage the risk. In particular, we cover: • A summary of the test for fraud with some recent examples; • The key risk in the sector being supply chain fraud; • The impact of COVID-19; • The impact fraud can have including financial loss & reputational damage; and • The steps organisations can take to manage the risk of fraud. Speaker biographies Fiona McLeod - Senior Associate Fiona has considerable experience in working with public sector clients and is an accredited expert in Housing and Residential Tenancy law. She is also an experienced litigator and appears in courts throughout Scotland in all aspects of civil litigation. Fiona's clients include central and local government, regulatory bodies, housing associations and private clients. She regularly advises on legislation, statutory interpretation, and powers and duties of public bodies. Fiona prides herself on her clear understanding of the law with the ability to present information in a way that is accessible and understandable to non-lawyers. Ramsay Hall - Senior Associate Ramsay is part of our Corporate Crime and Investigations practice group, representing organisations and senior individuals across a range of sectors on regulatory compliance, investigations and prosecutions. His experience includes advising on financial crime (bribery & corruption, fraud, money laundering and tax evasion offences), modern slavery, environmental and health & safety matters. He regularly guides clients through internal investigations, as well as providing support around regulatory-led investigations by specialist regulators and criminal authorities. He has significant experience of representing clients facing prosecution. Tony Convery - Solicitor Tony is a solicitor in our Government, Regulation and Competition Team. He regularly acts for public and private clients, advising on public law and regulatory issues, as well as on corporate crime and investigations. He has strong litigation credentials, having conducted many cases in the sheriff court and acted as instructing solicitor in the Court of Session and High Court of Justiciary. In addition, Tony works as part of Brodies' Charities & Third Sector team, specialising in regulation of that sector.
