Race Drivin' (SNES) - Original x SA-1 Comparison

DOWNLOAD: https://github.com/VitorVilela7/SA1-Root I was challenged to convert this SA-1 game and I accepted the challenge. A game that used to run at about 4 FPS now runs at about 30 FPS with the SA-1 chip, runs much smoother without getting too fast. In addition it includes some enhancements to make the game feel more realistic. The SA-1 is an enhancement chip that runs at 10.74 MHz instead of SNES CPU's 2.68 MHz. Just like my other conversions, this one moves the entire memory to the SA-1 side and moves almost the whole processing to the SA-1 CPU side. Just like Super R-Type, this uses SA-1 as coordinator but uses parallelism even more compared to Super R-Type, since most of the timing logic still stays on the SNES side and runs in parallel with the SA-1 chip. In addition, the game now uses all memory RAM extensively: I-RAM, BW-RAM and WRAM. With all optimizations included, the game runs up to 1000% faster compared with original. With that you can support my work and encourage me doing more conversions, since they usually require 100-200 hours of work, since the project involves doing the complete reverse engineering of the game and later a full RAM conversion (called remapping) and later the adjusts necessary to use the SA-1 chip, in addition to the smoothering process to not make the game too fast. With enough support, I will be able to convert more games, including Super FX games like Star Fox in the future. Happy ROM modding!
