As infrared camera designers and manufacturers, a common question we often encounter is why our cameras are open-framed. Around two decades ago, Sony pioneered an open-frame visible camera that found applications in various airborne systems. This sparked our curiosity, leading us to wonder why a similar approach couldn't be applied to infrared cameras. Since then, we've successfully introduced over 4,000 midwave integration-ready infrared systems. While not every camera in our portfolio follows the open-frame concept, such as the VayuHD and VayuHD-I, each has its unique design philosophy. The VayuHD stands out as a minimalist long-wave aerial camera. However, after extensive discussions with our military partners, the need for a full HD camera akin to the VayuHD but housed in a more robust, weatherproof enclosure became apparent. This led to the creation of the VayuHD-I, featuring sealed locking connectors and a rugged IP54 enclosure to meet the demands of challenging environments.
