The process is much easier than you expect. What you will need is a good oscilating tool that will cut the through the nailing flange of the old vinyl sliding door. Once you have the flange cut, caulking removed and screws out, you are good to remove the old sliding patio door. You will next prep the framing by beefing up the framing if necessary and taping the bottom of the sides for further water control. Dry fit the new patio door, level and plum it then proceed to screw it onto the framing. Wrap up the job with insulation, trim and silicon caulk.
