The bassline was played by Tony Swain on synthesizer. Martin Kemp is the bassplayer of Spandau Ballet Duran Duran but this song was played (as a lot of similar songs in those days) on a (bass) synthesizer. There are some really nice licks in bar 19; 48; 108 and 110. The song is written in the key of G, but the Solo transposes to Eb (E flat). There’s a really nice funky/syncopated bassline there!
