Brow Lift: Recovery

Brow Lift: Recovery | Aesthetic Surgical Images Brow descent is a normal part of the facial aging process. When this phenomena occurs, it's not unusual for patients to be perceived as being extremely concerned, or on occasion, even angry. For this reason, it's not unusual for them to seek the attention of a plastic surgeon for evaluation and treatment of this brow descent. These patients frequently realize that they need a brow lift, but their biggest obstacle is the recovery period. They are generally busy people who have busy schedules, and have difficulty making this type of procedure fit into their schedule. So they're very concerned about how the recovery process will affect their day-to-day life. Following surgery, patients will have to wear compressive head dressing. This typically stays on for about two to three days following the surgical procedure. It helps minimize swelling, and it helps make the patient more comfortable. We also give the patient post-operative narcotic pain medications in the first 24-48 hours, and we rapidly taper this and switch to Tylenol for the next week. Most patients are totally off pain medications after a week. The biggest concern of most of our patients is, when will they be presentable enough to go out in public? This varies from patient to patient, but in most cases it takes about 7-10 days. If patients have desk jobs, they can work at home without difficulty, but if they have jobs that require heavy lifting or strenuous activity, they're gonna have to wait 6-8 weeks before they can resume those types of activities. In most cases, the swelling is completely gone in about 6 weeks. If there are fixation devices that are present, they will be removed in about 6 weeks as well. In the vast majority of cases, patients are able to resume most of their normal activities within 2 weeks following the surgical procedure. Patient satisfaction rates following this procedure are extremely high, and success rates are excellent, but it's important to realize that the post-operative course is dependent upon the patient's lifestyle, and in many cases, their career. And in some cases, minimal disruption of that lifestyle can be anticipated, where in other patients it may take at least 6 weeks before they can resume all of their normal activities.
