"I told myself, 'If he goes out of the game right here, it's the Achilles,' " Grover said by phone late Friday. "But whatever it was, I knew he was going to shoot the free throws first." Bryant left for the locker room and the diagnosis turned out to be downright devastating: a torn Achilles tendon, the season gone and a career in peril.
