1969 HurstOlds: Here is my email address: [email protected] This is my 1964 Imperial LeBaron, purchased in 2020 out of Dallas TX. Hello to all the Imperial fans and car guys & gals. This is my first attempt at a slideshow so please forgive the crudeness. As you probably know, Imperial was its own distinct brand of cars under the umbrella of the Chrysler Corp. This is my fourth 1964 Imperial. I believe I am the fourth owner but I have not researched and frankly I don't know how. My first Imperial was triple black LeBaron, second was a beige looking 4 door Crown and the third was a Green over Green Crown Coupe. The first two were daily drivers & met various fates. The third I bought in the 90's and sold for a loss. My first succumbed to Chicago winters, second was wrecked when a driver slammed into me and spun the whole car around. There were no injuries fortunately due to the tank like quality of these cars :-). I sold the car to an Imperial guy who pulled up in an Imperial. I thought I did ok having bought the car for $300 and sold the wrecked one for $150 until they started the wrecked one and drove it away! I was embarrassed and felt like a chump. The third I sold at a loss and I was glad to get out from under it. This one is a keeper for sure. The standard and optional equipment on this one is pretty impressive. This car has every option that I know of for the 1964 model year and is as well equipped as I have ever seen. The original owner checked every box! Options include: Power steering, seats, windows including vents, door locks, antenna and trunk. Power drum brakes all around and a posi rear end! Additional options include tilt and telescopic steering wheel, Auto Pilot (cruise control), electric headlight dimmer, AM FM radio including rear speaker with reverb, AC including rear AC. Everything works but a few things are a little wonky. The gas gauge stays full, eventually drops to empty after about a half tank of fuel is gone and then stays on E until empty :-) The alt gauge flops around and the speedo is off. The car still needs further sorting but I have had quite a bit done since I took over. Still not starting and running that well. It may have a heater core leak (getting fumes in the car but I don't think it is exhaust as I had the whole system replaced). Steering box may need further adjustment or replacement. Interior may have been redyed-it is passable but I might consider a redo. Drive shaft needs to be balanced and heat is not consistent. Tranny and diff weep a little. AC works great! You could hang a piece of meat in the car with the front and rear AC cranking LOL. Also I've not been able to get auto pilot to set or get the proper adjustment on the headlight dimmer. The speedo is about 15 MPH off too 70 mph is really 55 mph... I will add more to the description-Please get in touch and share your Imperial stories!
