How to TEST your N54 Injectors AT HOME (Leaking Injector Symptoms!)

Today, we're looking at my friend's 335i and testing the old injectors to see which ones have failed. Since I bought this car (and then sold it to my buddy) it has had the following symptoms: - poor mpg - long crank before starting - misfire on cold or warm start - slight misfire at redlights - black smoke under acceleration (rich condition) The theory was that the injectors were stuck partially open at all times, so when he turned off the engine, the leftover fuel in the high pressure rail would leak into the cylinder and thus deplete the pressure for the next engine start. It would also mean that the injectors leaking fuel would be running richer than the others. So to test the injectors, we hooked them up to the rail, forced them to stay closed, but then pressurized the rail by cranking the motor. You'll see how easy it is to spot the bad injectors...
