Teach your dog Canine Hoopers (dog sport) with Husky & Cocker Spaniel

Join us as we show you how to teach your dog the sport of Canine Hoopers. (Also known as Grounders in the USA) For all the magic videos we produce, this one is probably the most magical as we show you how to train your dog from doing one hoop, to a whole course with little help from the handler. Hoopers is an ideal foundation sport for agility dogs as it teaches distance handling skills to both you and your dog. Using the method of shaping (and lots of treats) your dog will soon learn to love the obstacles of hoops, barrels, tunnels and the Tango Mat. Unlike dog agility Hoopers is a low impact sport with and is inclusive to all breeds of dogs with free flowing courses and taller tunnels to accommodate larger dogs. We did just three classes before taking part in our first CHUK show. We trained in the UK with Petra Houghton Parker at Wykd Hoopers in Preston. The dogs took to it so easily as we have already done an agility distance training camp and workshops with Hayley Latches of Taming Canines. It was Hayley who founded the CHUK organisation and devised this method of teaching dogs distance handling skills. Hoops also appear in NADAC dog agility courses, so it was a good thing I had trained them. Taking part in the training are Bohemia a twenty month old Siberian Husky. Amadeus , a four year old Siberian Husky and Disney a six year old Working Cocker Spaniel.
