The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others. Hey there! If you aren’t familiar with my animations then you’re gonna wanna check out the animation, “What If Noelle Lost Her Way?”, first. Like the canon Snowgrave route in-game, this animation assumes you’re already familiar with the way the story would “normally” go. Furthermore, it’s best watched without the context of the description or other comments, for fear of spoilers. Made progress on this thing go a lot smoother tbh. (I’ll try to keep context on this one more than my last video, but no promises). For the record, even though I did as much research as I could into the lore of Deltarune there’s a lotta stuff that we don’t yet know about its story. So this animation makes some assumptions for what might actually occur in a post Chapter 2 Snowgrave route. If Berdly really is dead, then his body eventually turns into dust. Noelle’s ice abilities begin to develop in the Light World as opposed to just the Dark World. The start of the Roaring, based on Lightners creating too many dark fountains. Btw Sans doesn’t actually know about the player’s presence, it was just a coincidence in phrasing, but I bet it still scared ya, didn’t it? I read a comment somewhere saying how Toby may have unintentionally made the Snowgrave route a lot darker than he originally intended, and that’s how I felt making this animation as well. I tried my hardest to not make things too “edgy” here and there, I think I struck a decent balance but idk, perhaps I went too far in a few places. Anyways, the project was fun, getting to take these established themes I presented in the previous animation and turn them on their head. The unity of the main characters + townsfolk, gone. It was especially interesting writing about Susie's gradual fallout with Kris, partly because Berdly isn’t there to help. The standard connection between Kris and the player, ruined. I wonder if anyone’s gonna notice the small details I used to convey Kris’ fear. And of course, Noelle’s descent. This part was REALLY interesting to write cuz, I wanted to harken back to the concepts of EXP and LV without it specifically relating to psychopathy. While it’d be easy to have Noelle go all crazy and maddened in the same manner of fanworks, like Dusttale, I really wanted to take this in a different direction. Like the description of LV states, it makes a person more prone to violence and less caring to those it’s inflicted on. That’s why I thought it’d be best to make the twist this time about Noelle becoming more of a sociopath (Patrick Bateman-esque) and being frightened/confused as to why it’s happening to her. I’m gonna assume many people were horrified with what was implied with the ending (I know I was), but it fulfills the goal of creating a similar outcome, Rudy dead and Noelle runs away as a result.
