This video documents a design flaw with the BMW R1200R which causes a terrible rust problem with the fuel tanks of these bikes. This serious rust issue on my bike appeared after only 6 years and around 30,000km! This is completely unacceptable, but the worst part is that, like every other issue with these bikes, BMW makes you pay for the fixes yourself and pretends to know nothing about them. In this video, run through the process I used to repair my tank, including relevant products, part numbers etc. I hope it helps other riders. My apologies for some of the language, it is an older video and my automotive-based videos like this are a little more 'relaxed' than my regular stuff! BMW doesn't want to hear from you once the warranty expires, even if it is their goof. They will happily take your money, but they apply a special 'we don't give a sh$t' policy with owners of their expensive machines, especially if you try to demand some sort of ethical response.
