1953 Chevrolet 1300 LS3 Five-Window Pickup Build Project

1953 Chevrolet 1300 LS3 Five-Window Pickup Build Project When Fast Freddie's Rod Shop got an invitation to compete in the Pro Builder's Shootout at the Car Craft Summer Nationals in Milwaukee this past summer, they could have brought one of the shop's several street machine projects; it's a predominantly street machine event, after all. Instead, shop owner Fred Kappus decided to shake things up a little—so he brought Otis. The matte two-tone 1953 Chevrolet Pickup wasn't named Otis when owner Don Boxx brought it to Fast Freddie's. Don and his wife, Julie, live in Kenosha, Wisconsin, but spend a lot of time at their cabin in Eagle River. They had had become friends with the retired couple in a neighboring cabin. Bob and Pat owned the five-window pickup. The Chevy 1300 (the Canadian version of the U.S. 3100) was mostly stock, with a few changes, including a tired 327 underhood. It was not extraordinary—just a cool old classic truck for driving around in Eagle River. It was named Tootsie.
