Swinegate is located on the southern edge of Leeds city centre and connects Leeds Bridge, Call Lane and Briggate at its eastern end with Mill Hiil and Bishopgate Street at its western reaches. It is one of the oldest roads in the city and it is believed its name is derived from the pigs once herded along its route.
