I was sick of the brakes making all kinds of dust after barley driving the car. You could drive it to the end of the street and back after washing and the wheels were completely coated in brake dust. I also did this on my CTS-V and it makes a huge difference. I think the replacement pads give up a small amount of braking but that is worth it to keep the wheels clean.
