Diamond Valley Railway - Full Circuit - July 2021

DVR is a 7¼ inch gauge miniature railway in the Melbourne suburb of Eltham, Victoria, Australia. The railway began operating in 1960, and has expanded significantly over the years. The main line is now 1.92km long, and a full trip takes around 13 minutes. A fascinating aspect of this railway is the signalling - it is fully functioning, and based on Victorian Railways prototypes (you can learn about Victorian signalling here:    • Victorian Speed Signalling - Explained!   ). The railway is an extremely popular attraction, and normally has long queues and packed trains. This video was filmed during Covid restrictions in July 2021, with severe limits on passenger numbers. As a result, I was able to get a clear view looking forward! It was also freezing cold, as you can tell by what people are wearing. Our train is hauled by 'Pauline,' a live steam 2-4-0 built in 1986. I grew up in Eltham in the 90's, and many of the locomotives and rollingstock from that time are still in service today.
