A healthy, fit being is resilient. Lanolin has natural antiseptic properties that have evolved with sheep. This isn't an oil we secrete which accounts for the burn when pushed into a wound. The sheep is showing no signs of pain (kicking and fighting) and the same nick on myself did not have pain when palpated. Although I ALWAYS try my hardest not to nick them, I have never personally seen infection in my 14 years of shearing.
