I figure that Money Longer is the perfect soundtrack to any gambling experience, and will motivate me to make some serious cash in the casino. Think about it. When Money Longer was released as a single in 2016, ahead of Uzi’s breakout, Scott Pilgrim inspired mixtape Lil Uzi Vert Vs The World, the song was a major factor in the rapper’s meteoric rise (and likely paid the bills for years to come). Surely listening to Money Longer on repeat will do the same thing for me, right? Whether you know Money Longer as a classic Lil Uzi song, a nostalgic banger or even as the backing track to the money longer alien meme, it’s a certified hit. And it has remained that way ever since its release. I mean, not only did Money Longer contribute to Lil Uzi’s rags to riches story, but it also saw the ‘Do What I Want’ rapper earn a place in the coveted 2016 XXL Freshman class. One historic XXL Freshman Cypher later, with contemporaries such as 21 Savage (‘redrum’, ‘Creepin’, ‘Rich Flex’), Lil Yachty (‘Strike’, ‘Flex Up’, ‘stayinit’) and Kodak Black (‘ZEZE’, ‘Tunnel Vision’, ‘Roll in Peace’), and Uzi was cemented as a pioneering figure in hip hop. Fast forward a few years and Lil Uzi Vert remains as popular as ever, with 2017’s ‘XO TOUR LIFE’, ‘Eternal Atake’ releasing to much anticipation in 2020, ‘Pluto x Baby Pluto’ dropping with Future in 2021 and hits like ‘Just Wanna Rock’, ‘Flooded the Face’ and ‘Aye (ft. Travis Scott)’ appearing on ‘Pink Tape’ in 2023. Not only is Uzi still a trap superstar to this day, but they continue to make headlines. Remember when they bought that $27m forehead diamond? Or when they wanted to buy a whole planet?? Clearly Lil Uzi has a lot of money to spare, and maybe, just maybe, I will too after listening to money longer so much. I guess, if nothing else, it should inspire me…right? I mean, that’s the plan! With money longer blaring in my headphones and the roulette wheel at my fingertips, the goal today is to make $100 in profit. That may not seem like a lot, but for me it is. I’ve never won $100 before…could today be a first? Well, my chances didn’t look great right from the start… I stupidly decided to put money on numbers that relate to Uzi, 16*29 (Uzi and Playboi Carti’s rumoured collab album), 20 (like ‘20 Min’), 2 (like ‘Two’) and 9 and 10 (because Uzi said their 9ft 10in on the song ‘Myron’ – from ‘LUV vs. The World 2’). Needless to say, it didn’t end well, and my bad luck continued throughout my roulette experience. After leaving the roulette table and playing some slots, things started to look up. But even still, it wasn’t smooth sailing. If anything, my time spent gambling was a rollercoaster experience of wins, losses, highs and lows. But did I prevail in the end?
