All Creatures of Our God and King (Tune: Lasst uns Erfreuen - 4vv) [with lyrics for congregations]

"All Creatures of Our God and King" was written by Francis of Assisi in 1225 as 'Laudato sia Dio mio Signore' and often known as the 'Canticle of the Sun'. It is based on psalm 148, with references to other psalms as well. The English version is based on a paraphrase made by Rev William Henry Draper for a children's Whitsuntide (Pentecost) Festival in Leeds around 1910. It was first published in 1919. The tune is the anonymous 'Lasst uns Erfreuen', first published in 1623, arranged by Ralph Vaughan Williams. It is performed here by the Choir of Trinity College, University of Melbourne and the Australian Chamber Brass Ensemble.
