How does an iconic golf course get stripped down to the soil and then reconstructed to the high standards of its legendary status? Learn how modern golf technology with hydronics, laser scanning and cutting-edge construction machinery combines with a mission to preserve the look and feel of a historic track to create a more sustainable course. Following the 2023 Charles Schwab Challenge, Colonial Country Club embarked on an 11-month renovation project led by architect Gil Hanse to return the property to a more natural, classic presentation. Hanse started on the master plan project in 2017, delving into the Club’s history and past modifications.
