Discussion Questions // 1. What stands out from Pastor Louie’s definition of ‘Prayer’? Are there any pieces to that definition that are surprising or new to you? 2. What was or is your relationship with your earthly father like? 3. How might your relationship with your earthly father affect the way you perceive and understand relationship with a heavenly Father? 4. It is so easy to read the famous, “Lord’s Prayer” and ignore the substantial, exemplary truths present in it. Read this passage together and answer the following question (Matt. 6:9-13). Which words or phrases did you view differently after hearing this talk from Pastor Louie? 5. The Lord’s Prayer begins with adoration of God. What are some things that have genuinely amazed you about our God, recently? What is something from creation that has left you in awe of the Creator? 6. Pastor Louie mentions the ‘majesty’ of the Queen of England. How does picturing earthly royalty help you think through how we should view our Almighty God? 7. What does it look like to switch “human-wishes” for “God-wishes”? How is prayer a way to seal your desire to exchange these wishes for each other? 8. Are “God’s wishes” different from your wishes? How are they similar and how are the different? 9. What stands in the way of you being a more prayerful person? What are some practices you can recommend to each other? For instance, “instead of texting someone, “I will be praying for you!” send those words AND include a prayer in that very text.
