Deconstructing While My Guitar Gently Weeps - The Beatles (Isolated Tracks)

While My Guitar Gently Weeps is a curious song due to having an outside guest musician which hadn't happened before. WMGGW went through three different versions. An acoustic demo take, a second version recorded on August 16th, 1968 which was transferred onto an eight track machine. George overdubbed backward guitars, double tracked vocals but this version was ultimately scrapped. The final version was started on September 5th, 1968 with John on guitar, Ringo on drums, Paul on piano, with George on acoustic guitar. Eric Clapton would soon join providing lead guitar work on the majority of takes, with John moving to the organ. Take 25 was deemed the best and more overdubs were done the next day. This included double tracked vocals, Ringo on tambourine and stick tapping reminiscent of castanets, a main bass part most likely played by Paul, and another bass and/or guitar overdub doubling or tippling up the bass on the bridges. The bass is a matter of contention as some sources point to John on bass while others point towards Paul on bass. Theories are also that Paul and John doubled bass duties at the same time on the Fender IV and Jazz respectively. My theory is that the bass was only doubled during the bridge with another guitar up an octave tripling up the bridge. My ears only hear one main bass part.
