OutRun2 (US XBox): Scud Race/ Super GT Stage

The XBox port of OutRun2 contained another unlockable course that Sega Racing nuts should instantly recognize, none other than the tracks of the first racer featured on Sega's Model 3 board in 1996, Scud Race (Sports Car Ultimate Drive), otherwise known as Super GT in the US. Much like Daytona USA 2: Battle on the Edge, Scud Race never found a home release, although a tech demo was made for a possible Dreamcast port. The Model 3 was the most powerful arcade board at its time, far too much to port onto the Sega Saturn and arguably the Dreamcast, and the ones that made the cut (such as Virtua Fighter 3TB and Sega Rally 2) were heavily criticized for not living up to the "arcade-perfect" expectations many had from the reported superior technology of the Dreamcast. Rumor also had it that licensing issues with brands and vehicles featured in the game prevented a home port. Arcade fans will notice many elements are missing from the courses probably due to console memory restraints, most noticeable on the Dolphin Tunnel and Twilight Airport tracks. You should see what SOJ did to the latter stage in the later Japanese release. I feel ripped again. (See video responses) But hands down, Sumo Digital did a wonderful job porting the two bonus courses into the game. Any fans of the game, this is the closest thing to a home release. --- Again, watch as I suck racing this course! I hate the Classic Castle course, I really do. There was one time where I actually drifted through that crazy S turn without losing speed but I've never been able to do it again. Also wasn't happy I was mostly in 5th gear for the majority of Dolphin Tunnel. Don't bother with stupid comments cause I'll delete them in a snap, and you know which ones I mean. This course was only available on the XBox version of OutRun2. It is not on any of the 2006 ports. And like the last video, the game didn't have the soundtrack so I added those in during editing. Again, I'm not here to provide you with music so don't bother asking for the songs or soundtrack. But "Groovin' Daylight" still owns you. Racing in aquariums, an airport, ancient ruins and a castle. This was why IMO Sega arcade racers were the best. Eye candy might not be everything but it sure was pretty in those days. Everything's too damn realistic and boring now.
