In this new multi-part series, beginner guitarists will be introduced to the most common and fundamental styles of flamenco guitar music. In the first few episodes, we will look at Soleá, which is known as the most fundamental and important rhythm in flamenco. Follow along as we learn about the unique 12-beat Compás characteristic to the Soleá and many of the other traditional styles of flamenco. In this episode, we will focus on the escobilla, which is a very common phrase in Solea that accompanies the dancers. The word escobilla means "broomstick" due to the sweeping motion of the dancer's footwork. Played on a 2021 Jorge de Zofia peghead blanca with Solera Flamenca Concert strings.
