Soundtrack for this episode: https://adventurearchives.bandcamp.co... T-Shirts: https://teespring.com/stores/adventur... In this episode, we decided to take a trip to Mohican Memorial State Forest (Mohican State Park) in Ohio to backpack in the winter and the snow and freezing temperatures. The temperatures were below freezing, and it got as low as 1 degree fahrenheit, or possibly even -6 fahrenheit according to one person we talked to. We camped overnight in the snow. We hiked past Mohican Youth Academy towards Pleasant Hill Dam where we did some sledding. Before that we saw the Mohican covered bridge. We then saw Big Lyons Falls and Little Lyons Falls. The falls were frozen into big structures of ice. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the fire tower at Mohican. We used a number of trails including Pine Run Bridle Trail, Grouse Bridle Trail, Pleasant Hill Trail, and Lyons Falls Trail. We also saw the Clearfork Gorge National Natural Landmark Plaque. -SCENE SELECTION- 00:00 Teaser 00:24 Theme Song 00:48 After Intro 1:57 DAY ONE 02:35 Snow-covered Trailhead 03:13 Map Sequence 03:22 Snowy Wintry Hiking 05:13 Idyllic Winter Scenery 05:51 Continued Hiking & Signs of Wildlife 08:38 Evening Pinewoods 11:19 Deer Hair 11:59 Nearing a Campsite 13:10 Setting up Camp 14:18 Boiling Water 15:50 Firestarting and Meal 18:42 Enjoying the Fire 19:23 Cooking Japanese Curry & Talking 22:38 Eating 24:17 Discussing Plans 25:31 Retreating to Shelters 27:30 Unsteady Sleep 28:20 DAY TWO 29:09 Frozen Pants 29:24 Boiling Snow and Discussing 30:35 Friendly Skiers 31:26 Packing Up 32:24 Hiking on the Frozen Stream 34:04 Back on the Trail 35:33 Open Parking Lot 36:20 Road Hiking 38:00 Covered Bridge 39:17 Pleasant Hill Trail 41:52 Pleasant Hill Dam 44:00 Sledding 45:42 Exploring the Dam 46:59 Lyons Falls Trail 47:30 Historic Photo 48:40 Little Lyons Falls 50:10 Big Lyons Falls 52:25 Back Towards the River 54:00 Dusk Road Hiking 55:55 Entrance to the Trail 57:16 Campsite and Temperature 58:49 Dry Wood Searching 59:40 Firestarting & Dehydrated Meals 1:01:24 Portable Grill & Trying Meals 1:01:59 Roasted Veggies & Meat Preparation 1:03:33 Roasting 1:04:44 Taste Testing 1:07:09 Enjoying the Fire & Cozy Shelters 1:09:12 DAY THREE - Morning Coffee 1:10:56 Hiking Out & Tree ID 1:13:52 Final Hike Out 1:15:26 Special Thanks 1:16:43 Credits & Post Hike Tacos 1:17:56 Classic Mohican 1:19:39 Call to Action 1:19:59 Patreon Shoutouts 1:25:04 Secret Billy Can Cameras: Panasonic GH5s - https://amzn.to/2R40Exb Sony A7s iii - https://amzn.to/36zROjk Lenses: Panasonic 12-35mm f2.8 - http://amzn.to/1FRE9kc Panasonic 8-18mm f2.8 - https://amzn.to/2FxVIer Panasonic 100-300mm Lens - http://amzn.to/2kW8nvc Sony 20mm f1.8 - https://amzn.to/3otOhZT Sony 55mm f1.8 - http://amzn.to/1ToMpy4 Sony 24-105mm f4 - https://amzn.to/3iV9sTu Other: Rode Videomic Pro+ - https://amzn.to/2QBMjbX Manfrotto BeFree Live Tripod - http://amzn.to/2HcKsnh Moza Aircross 3-Axis Gimbal - http://amzn.to/2CjyqEX -OUR CAMPING GEAR!- Virtus Knives - http://www.virtusknives.com/store/ Condor Bushlore Knife - http://amzn.to/1JaBBv7 Equinox Egret Tarp - http://amzn.to/1BIqkmW Eureka Casper Sleeping Bag - http://amzn.to/1BXhlxH Buck 119 Knife - http://amzn.to/1TrKgQY Mora Craftline Q Knife - http://amzn.to/1TrKffT Katadyn Water Filter - http://amzn.to/1onus3P Platypus Bladder - http://amzn.to/1TrKfNc Some of the links above are Amazon affiliate links.
