Total War is fighting for its life, shaking from a Creative Assembly that's struggling after grave financial hits, and the recent release of Total War Pharaoh, a game that's performing worse than any other Total War title in the series. There is a bright future for Total War out there somewhere, I'm certain of this, but it won't happen if Creative Assembly continues to act the way it has, if they continue to refuse to listen to player feedback, and if they don't quickly move to create and refine a new engine for this series. The popularly called Warscape engine has long since outlived its uses for this series, but it was evident ever since Empire and Rome 2, now 10 and 14 years ago, that this iteration of the engine was an overall bad thing when compared to the glory days of Rome Total War and Medieval 2 Total War. Creative Assembly desperately needs to show that it listens to player feedback, it desperately needs to realize that the Total War community are passionate people with the desire to continue their love affair with this series, but that it won't do so on any term. The Pharaoh debacle has shown that players can indeed vote with their wallets, and as has been proven on Steam with the Warhammer 3 Shadows of Change DLC and now Total War Pharaoh, they will also make their voices heard in the review section. The tragedy of the Total War series is that its decline and possible end is so utterly avoidable. Its players crave more of it, and they are vocal about what they want to see. And yet, Creative Assembly seems to refuse to listen to them, and have yet to give a word or a hint that decades long anticipated games like Total War Medieval 3, Total War Empire 2, and perhaps even Total War Rome 3, might be in the works. In this video, I give my simple advice to Creative Assembly on how they can turn this ship around and save this series they've cultivated a massive audience for in the past 20 years, and which has become so important to so many, myself included.
