Santa Fe GP35 on Colorado Joint Line in 2009! A northbound local Burlington Northern Santa Fe freight train crossed Baptist Road just south of Monument, Colorado, on the Denver-Pueblo Joint Line, on June 19, 2009. On the point was BNSF GP35 no. 2521, still in former Santa Fe Railway blue and yellow. It was built as Santa Fe no. 1321 in March 1964. It was later renumbered 3321. In July 1982, it was rebuilt and renumbered Santa Fe 2821, its final Santa Fe number before the railroad's merger with Burlington Northern. Behind the GP35 was Electro-Motive Diesel GP38-2 no. 798. It was built as Penn Central 7998 in July 1972, then renumbered Conrail 7998, before becoming an EMDX lease unit.
