In this video I visit RSPB Middleton Lakes, Staffordshire. It was a bitterly cold morning and most of the lakes were frozen over. However, I still managed to see and photograph a big range of birds - the highlights were: a kestrel, a water rail, a Red breasted merganser, teal, and many more. The bird that I identified as a Female Red Breasted Merganser is actually a Goosander. They are related and and the American common merganser is very similar.
