Sea of Thieves: Understanding the Chain Shot [Advanced Guide] , Lightest is a Cannonball, Heaviest is Us, and halfway in between is the chain shot. The Chain shot was created to reduce other ships maneuvering abilities. It Causes a level 1 hole to the hull. But it's most useful to drop the mast in one hit, also entirely damage the wheel and the capstan. Based on memory, practice, and habit, I have noticed many players, including my self, having a hard time getting the chain-shot to hit the target, this is because we are using our standard cannonball memory to aim. Reminds me of our early days in the seas, most players would launch cannonballs as if they are aiming for Seagulls. Chainshots are unlike throwables that are equal to cannonballs in aim. Chain-Shot behavior is brand new to the seas and not similar to anything we have seen before.
