When we think about environmental waste, we rarely consider the impact of discarded pharmaceuticals. How does disposing of medicines impact our environment and what are actionable steps we can take to stop these hidden pollutants? Karthik Gurunathan is a final year Pharmacy student with a passion for environmentally sustainable healthcare and has developed an interest in environmentally conscious healthcare practices. Karthik believes that for lasting change to occur, we should take responsibility as individuals for the impact we have on our surroundings. Karthik Gurunathan is a final year Pharmacy student with a passion for environmentally sustainable healthcare. From his experience working in the community and hospital pharmacy setting, he developed an interest in spreading awareness on environmentally conscious healthcare practices. He believes that for lasting change to occur, we should take responsibility as individuals for the impact we have on our surroundings. Karthik is currently the president of the QUT Nature Society and actively participates in volunteering efforts for the local community. In his leisure time, he enjoys gardening, hiking, chess, and is a martial arts enthusiast.
