In the first round, surfers competed in five heats with four surfers in each heat. The top two went straight through to Round 3 with a head-to-head in a Round of 16, while the other two went through to Round 2, which consisted of two more heats of five surfers each. Round 2 saw the top 3 surfers advance to Round 3, while the remaining four were eliminated. Enjoy the full first heat of Round 1 in the #surfing premiere at the Olympics!
