Try these things FIRST! - Don't RMA straight away.. / Remember these games are designed for Windows and are being actively translated as you play. - First step, try running the game with Proton Experimental. / Give it a test run for a while, see how it goes. / If there's already improvement you might not need to carry on. - Increase UMA Frame Buffer Size to 4GB / The next two steps will need you to go into the BIOS. / How do you do it? /Shut down completely. / Hold Power + Volume Up at the same time until you here the first beep and let go. - Sometimes changing to Battery Mode in the BIOS can help. / I don't know why this is, I just saw people on Reddit recommend switching into it. - Check the install location, maybe the MicroSD card is struggling a bit. / Move the game file to the Internal Storage SSD and see if that helps in any way. - VRAM / A lot of newer games chew up your VRAM / See if the game is using a lot of it. / Reduce graphics settings if they're a bit too high. - Last resort.. / Factory Reset / Re-Image of SteamOS - Actual final resort.. if none of this helps, it's time for an RMA. / I had a good experience in the end, only took around 2-3 weeks and Valve sent a brand new unit, not had any crashes like before for a good few months now!
