=== About this Song === While Halo on the original Xbox was the first FPS game I really fell in love with, Turok the Dinosaur Hunter and Goldeneye 007 on Nintendo 64 were among the first actual FPS games I played on console in the mid-late 90's. Though it looks downright crude by today's standards, I found Goldeneye to be so cinematic and modern for its time. The game featured dark, industrial sounds and relied more heavily on texture and a rhythmic vibe instead of incorporating a lot of strong melodic structures in its soundtrack. While that's not the kind of material I'm usually drawn to immediately, it fit the 007 world particularly well and provided some great inspiration for Sin City. I had some of the ideas for this remix for a while, but I ended up putting most of it together during a period where my time was largely being taken up by several sudden, unexpected obligations. As a result, I ended up making this remix a bit on the shorter side, but I was still able to create a few different sections for the song incorporating the original melody and some of the dark, moody vibe of the source material. The footage for the video was taken when I visited Las Vegas in March of 2023. I was back at the hotel one night and while the view from the hotel wasn't amazing, I did get a good look at some of the strip, as well as some of the traffic and cars driving around the area. I decided to just take some footage of the various views I was able to see from the room. As I considered what footage to use for the video, I found that these overhead views felt like surveillance - watching quietly as a spy is tracking their targets or surveying an area from above. It felt like it fit well not only with the music, but the whole 007 spy-thriller theme, so I incorporated it into the video.
