Art Kahn and His Orchestra w/ Ruth Etting - Hello Baby ~1926

Art Kahn seems like an artist remembered more for what he made rather than who he was, but from what I can piece together, he was quite a prominent pianist and bandleader, hailing from Chicago and performing primarily in the 1920's. He performed at places such as the Torch Club, the Senate Theater and the Midway Gardens. He was also not afraid of working with other artists, having a bit of a hit with today's song, sung by Ruth Etting on their version of "Hello, Baby". Originally written by Richard Whiting and Seymour Simons, this arrangement was recorded in Chicago, Illinois on July 7, 1926. Aside from performing, he also worked as a songwriter and composer for other groups such as "The Happiness Boys", Eddie Peabody, Jan Garber Orchestra, and Kane's Hawaiians. His recording career began in 1923 with Columbia in which he continued to record on until 1926 where it appears he took a break from recording until coming back to the studio for Brunswick in 1929-1931. The name "Art Kahn and His Orchestra" was also used in the 1930's, but these are all American Record Corporation house bands performing under his name as a pseudonym, although he was still performing in the 1930's, appearing in the short film "Gags and Gals" in 1936.
