MRE Review: Vintage 1995 Chili And Macaroni from Steve1989 MREinfo (Frozen for 20 Years!)

Please visit me on Facebook: www.facebook.com/gschultz9/ Visit Steve1989's channel:    / @steve1989mre   Here are a few of Steve's frozen MRE reviews: 1993 Pork With Rice in BBQ Sauce:    • 1993 Frozen For 15 years Preserved MR...   1993 Omelet with Ham:    • 1993 Frozen For 15-20 Years US MRE Om...   1993 Tuna with Noodles (compared to a poorly stored 1989 one):    • 1989 Vs 1993 US MRE Frozen For 15-20 ...   So, this is pretty exciting (for me at least, hopefully others will find it interesting too). Steve1989 MREinfo sent me one of his super-rare frozen MREs. Old brown bag MREs aren't particularly rare or hard-to-find, but not many people thought to collect these things and freeze them for twenty years. The good thing about that is that we get a chance to go through a virtual time machine and try out a 20+ year old MRE that is actually in pretty close to new condition! It's the only way to make a truly "fair" review of one of these things on YouTube. Generally when doing a review of an old MRE or other ration it ends up being more of a mystery and comedy of errors than a true review. You open the bag and have no idea what condition the contents will be in. Generally they're not even edible and you take a pretty big chance just taking a little taste. These examples were frozen while still within their original lifespan so we can experience (see, smell and taste) what a 1995 MRE was actually like in 1995 or 1996 or so! I apologize for the fact that this is such a long video (longest I've ever posted), but there really was a LOT of stuff I wanted to cover with this one (from the history of this MRE itself, my thoughts on frozen MREs being like vampires, the actual opening and full review of the MRE, a comparison of the 1995 entree to one from 2011 and a final push to eat everything (mostly) on camera). I did consider breaking this up into two parts, but really just wanted to get everything out there at once. Feel free to watch part of it now and finish it up later! I hope this was worth the effort and that at least some others will also appreciate how amazing of an opportunity this was. Heck, even the FRH was interesting (both in how it looked and how amazingly well it worked!). Thank you again Steve1989!
